Water Not Draining Away?

Are you finding that water just isn’t draining away like you think it should?  Maybe you’re buying a new home and you want to make sure that there are no problems with the drainage pipes?  In either case, you’ll need a drainage survey.

What is a Drainage Survey?

A drainage survey is also commonly known as a drainage inspection and its purpose is to inspect the pipes in your home in order to see if there are any problems with them.  Drainage surveys are done before buying a home to see if there are any problems with the pipes that could cost you serious money or when you just can’t work out why water is not draining away as it should.

What Can a Drainage Survey See?

A drainage survey is capable of picking up the following things, among-st others:

  • Tree roots that are invading and partially or totally blocking the drain
  • Debris that may have settled in sewage or storm water pipe, causing a partial or total blockage
  • Looking for physical damage in drainage pipes such as cracking and separation (both in sewer and storm water pipes) as these can lead to localized flooding

How is a Drainage Survey Done?

Drainage surveys are done through the use of CCTV (Close caption TV) video cameras.  These are fed down through your drainage system through access ports, roof water leaders, or floor drains where possible. Pictures are transmitted to the Technician inspector, who then records them digitally.  A locator is used in conjunction with the camera in order to precisely record where any problems or anomalies lie.  This information is then analyzed by the specialist who will then report the findings and recommend any repairs or replacements that may be required.

Our Technicians are highly qualified and trained in how to use the equipment necessary to do the survey and will be able to easily and accurately interpret and identify any issues. At the time of an inspection we will produce notes of our findings for your review, supply a bird’s eye map view detailing the systems current condition and pictures or video footage of any area of concern. These reports are written in point form, easy to understand, and the technician will be able to go over the details at the time of inspection to assist clients in helping them completely understand the findings.
